All the positive reviews are planted

There is currently one negative review and 4 positives. None of the positives have reviewed anything else. Hmmmmm

Soylent Green is people!

That is absolutely not true. The people who reviewed it are people who saw it at one of the numerous film festivals that it played at. What they wrote is their own opinion and has nothing to do with anyone involved with the film.

Why don't you read some of the wonderfully positive reviews that are in the review section on imdb as well. None of them are "planted" either. Yes, there are some pretty scathing reviews as well. This is definitely a love it or hate it film. But, in my experience, more people have loved it than have hated it. That's the risk you take when you do something outside the mainstream.

If you ever are one of the people who actually see the film, then I hope you'll be in the group who loves it. Most of the things that the people who hate it point out as negatives are the very things that the people who love it recognize as positives and some of the strongest things in the film.

Anyway, opinions are like a**holes, right? Everybody has one. And that's what makes a horserace. And other cliches.

Happy viewing.

I also have to agree with the OP, freemanpatrick7, and ofumalow.

For many regular users, we have learned to spot the planted 8-10 star reviews for films that have not received the best reviews or much acclaim. I was only able to locate a few reviewers that were from long-established accounts with much activity (like those of us on the thread). However, the majority here - in the review section - are from accounts opened at the time of the film's release or promo period, and it appears that the users have never come back.

What many filmmakers don't realize, is that type of marketing is frowned upon and the films are often passed over for this reason alone. I will give an indie film with only one average review a chance if posted from a reputable account, before I would for a film with numerous "glowing" (often wordy) reviews that come from inactive accounts. It's that obvious.

So today, I pass on this one.

I agree with the OP. All the ten-star reviews are by people who mysteriously appear to have never reviewed another film on IMBD before (or since)--always a sure sign that the film is being "reviewed" by cast, crew, friends and family of the filmmaker, and nobody else. Sorry folks, but if you're going to pose as Average Joe Viewer, do a more convincing job of it.
