Putting Daughter and Friend in Harm's Way

Statham's character seemed like the biggest d-bag in the movie. He made practically no effort to get his daughter out of danger and even invited a friend over when he knew things were going to get ugly. Worst parent and friend ever.

reply

He was trying to get the daughter to live with his friend so that when they come for him he would be alone, but he wasnt fast enough.

Wasn't fast enough? They were screwing around for HOURS! How long's it take to pack a bag, get in your truck and GO. Call your headquarters, tell them your cover's blown, and have them do the mopup at your house. That whole business was hella-stupid.

"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"

reply

You must have never had a daughter. You need to tell them to start packing a week ahead.

Also there was no calling HQ. he wasnt there on official busness. He was trying to have a life outside of work.

Like Strazdamonas said, he was no longer with the DEA, he had resigned.

sorry to necropost this but I just watched the movie; enjoyed it. But this was the biggest plot-hole in the movie that I didn't get. Highly trained undercover agent goes to meth-cooker's pad and booby traps it, gets caught by meth-cooker's cronies but beats the hell out of them, leaving them alive to inevitably tell meth-cooker about him infiltrating the place. Agent goes back to his house where he knows meth-cooker knows where he lives. Agent tells daughter it's time to go (while it's daylight out) and daughter becomes a pain in the ass, not wanting to because of "school". Highly trained agent who can't round up daughter and say, "People are coming to kill us" tells friend to come to his house and "watch his horses" for a week and just hang out. All the meantime, meth-cooker's cronies move in on agent's home. Agent STAYS home as it becomes night-time, not getting daughter and friend the HELL OUT OF THERE leading to his friend getting capped and his daughter getting kidnapped.

Yeah, if it weren't for this gigantic plot hole it would have been a decent movie.. Just complete Hollywood stupidity..
Otherwise, not entirely bad.. I thought the acting and direction were pretty good.. Cinematography was better than you'd normally get with a movie at this level.. The others problem was leaving Franco alive to give up his cop buddy.. Either should have let Clancy shoot him on the bridge or show a little post scene to tie it up..

reply

Hah. Thanks for the summary. I'm thirty minutes in and I can't stand behind Statham's choices.
