I really wanted to like this show

Back in the day, I watched Arsenio's show religiously. It was good, and relevant, and refreshing. When I heard he was coming back to late night I was glad. I REALLY wanted to like the new show...but I just didn't.

At first I couldn't quite put my finger on it, other than not having much in the way of A-list guests.

Over time it started to hit me that Arsenio seemed to be on some self-appointed mission to promote blackness. Black everything. (And, no, I'm NOT a racist.) Comments he made, combined with his attitude--which was uncharacteristically sullen and almost angry--made for unpleasant viewing.

I don't know what prompted his self-appointed mission and/or his apparent anger, but it turned me off. Whatever caused the chip on his shoulder ruined the show.
