IMDb message boards shutting down!

We started posting here as random Tolkienites and Ringnuts and now we're gonna leave IMDb boards the same way. The funny thing is people were at each other's throats all the time and now we'd never get to appreciate what we had yesterday until it is gone. It was fun while it lasted. There is an end to all things no matter how much we want to hold on to them

As usual, everybody gets punished because of the actions of a few idiots. LOTR and Hobbits boards were always nice, this is all because of those bad DCEU movies, you can't believe the sh!t I've seen there.

No.Completely disagree. LOTR(in the old days) and especially Hobbit boards were seldom nice! I am so happy for that decision of IMDB. That should have happened years ago :))

Exactly. There were too many trolls for IMDb to handle. Besides, Amazon was not getting anything in return for keeping the boards active. It was a waste of their data resource, which can otherwise be used for productive things like updating the film/celeb database.

Too bad, and I keep wonder why we keep on posting here when in a few days everythig will be deleted.

As many people think, it must be because of the trolling around.

To make the best of this time we've got left on the message boards. No time for regrets, I started first came to this board on Christmas 2014 and it has been fun sharing thoughts with you good people!

Someone made a copycat version of IMDb boards but I'm having mixed feelings about that place.
http://imdb2.freeforums.net/ It's a user-moderated forum which means the reliability is down to zero. IMHO, these user made forums are no match for IMDb. No doubt IMDb is the safest message boards we will ever see. If you're a gamer, then I'd recommend http://steamcommunity.com/ as well. I met some passionate gamers who were very informative and resourceful. But its only for PC gamers, regrettably.

This really is lame and their excuse is a joke. These boards are all text. The amount of data required is beyond minimal. So much useful info is exchanged on the message boards. One more way the internet, and computing all together has been in decline since 2005.
