Great show

It's a good thing more movies and TV shows are addressing sexual assault in the military. Hopefully, more people will see it's a growing problem!

Yeah, but the previews make it look like victims have no rights. Awareness is a good thing, but not if it's portrayed inaccurately only for the sake of drama.

The problem is that for a long time the victims havent had rights. I think this show is an attemot to shed a light on that

I could understand that, but shed light on the subject for whom? I was surprised to find out last year that an overwhelming majority of sexual-assault victims in the military are male.

And for all of the assaults reported imagine how many are not because the victim male or female believes there will be no justice. I took a criminology course last semester and the number of cases reported of sexual assault was staggering, more staggering was the lack of reaction to those victims. Most got transferred out or harrassed into leaving. I remember a case of a woman who was raped by a superior, she was tranferred out to a lesser position and he was left alone to keep getting promoted in rank. Everything was hush hush until she killed herself after sending a letter to the press naming him. To avoid controversy he retired and was given an honorable discharge. Sadly our military hasnt learned how to handle these cases and this show is pointing out some of these weaknesses. Wasnt it the Air Force crew member in charge of handling sexual assault cases just busted for assaulting a fellow officer? Whether the victim is male or female the military has always had the reputation of pushing the victim aside to avoid scandal. That is unfair not just the victims but also to the honorable men and women serving and risking their lives everyday. If someone proves that they have the amount of respect of a fellow officer that they can rape them? How can any officer/soldier trust that same person to act honorably in battle. Discourse in battle can only end in loss of life

You bring up some good points. I had to attend some sexual assault training last week. A lot of it is laughable the way it's presented out of context, but a lot of it is disturbing. Just sitting through the training makes me ill. There are some videos that the Navy put out on the subject and watching them makes me want to throw up.

I'll post more after I've seen more of the show.. The interactions between a staff sergeant and a major are a little off, but the scene is kind of believable, aside from the observations below.

There are some issues. The SSG says she was drinking, but that's already an offense in a combat zone. Also, even consensual sex is against the rules in a combat zone. There's also the issue of fraternization. Under no circumstances should a warrant officer and a sergeant major be having sex with a staff sergeant especially at the same time. Lauren says something about her CO seeing a video and she looks like she isn't struggling hard enough. I think this would be an entirely different case if it was real life. The sergeant major, the warrant officer, and the other guy would be getting the boot and Lauren would be defending herself as to whether she was consenting or not. This wouldn't be a sexual assault/rape case. This would be a case of how many people are getting kicked out of the Army, three guys and Lauren or just three guys.

Okay, I watched the first episode and part of the second episode, but it's just so far from any form of reality that I had to stop watching. I stopped at the part where the guy says, "it's classified."
