Barely a remake

I was surprised how completely different it was from the original.

It's hardly surprising that it's different to the original it happens all the time. The director has said the film is not a remake but a companion piece which is just an excuse for radically changing the original. I just saw What Maisie Knew which is based on an Oscar Wilde novel but is nothing like the book.

What Maisie knew is based on a Henry James story, not Oscar Wilde, that might be the reason why is not like the book you say.

Would you recommend the original? I was sooooo disappointed with this movie.
