A bigger question: Why is Malcolm McDowell involved? He must have been offered a hefty paycheck. It will only be worth it if he breaks in, beats the crap out of the kid, while singing "Singin' in the Rain".

shareKevin isn't in this one. This has NEW CHARACTERS and a different kind of plot, and so it should probably get the benefit of the doubt.
Why should the fact that they are using a new kid and NOT Kevin, be a shock to anyone? Home Alone 3 didn't have Kevin, and neither did Home Alone 4--granted he was NAMED kevin but he wasn't truly Kevin. To be honest, I was always confused by Home Alone 4's title-- the title SHOULD have been,

Home Alone 4 was about the McAllister family (just like Home Alone and Home Alone 2), albeit with different actors / actresses playing the same characters. Obviously Kevin had to be played by a different boy in Home Alone 4, i.e. Mike Weinberg, as by the time Home Alone 4 was released in 2002 Macaulay Culkin who played Kevin in the first two films must have been a young man (about 20 years old).
Is there really a fifth Home Alone film coming out this year? Why have they bothered? Quite frankly I was disappointed with Home Alone 3 and felt it shouldn't have been made. In my opinion, Home Alone and Home Alone 2 were excellent, and that's where Twentieth Century Fox should have finished with Home Alone, not bothered with 3, 4 or 5.
Must not be much of an economic crisis. Hollywood has NO problems throwing money away!
