Cults, brainwashing, history of psycho-analysis and more

To paraphrase: pbyd says: who are the psychiatrists for the psychiatrists? No such system really exists.

This is so totally wrong and naïve that I can only suppose the writer is a very articulate teenager. Even back in the early 1900s, when all the psychiatrists were virtually students of Sigmund Freud, all analysts were required to go thru analysis themselves. Most of them continued these sessions on and off all throughout their careers.

Even Scientologists constantly e-meter themselves and their peers to help identify negative thoughts and habits that might be holding them back (back from what? That I am not sure!)

Anyway, todays shrinks do not operate in a vacuum, unless they create the void themselves. Today's Facebook world creates a lot of checks and balances. Like it or not: People talk! If You the Shrink need shrinking for your own problems your patients will soon bring it to EVERYONE'S ATTENTION!

Totally pointless. You make up contingencies for whatever might happen. Aides read them and put them in a big stack. Then TPTB do whatever they were going to do anyway.

I suppose I should have spat 'handlers.' First there is my ever patient long suffering wife who keeps me alive, awake and makes me appear marginally interested when my input is required. She is very witty, scarily smart and can reduce problematic people to jelly with barely more than a glance. And then there is Sid (really) who looks like a Bruno. He occasionally acts as muscle (this chair can't always get from point A to point B by itself.) but mostly he makes sure I end up where I am supposed to be, have to do as little as possible and get paid the most they were willing to pay. He is very good at his job.

Except for a brief fact finding mission I've never been to China. And that was a quick in and out trip. Nepal though was lovely. Pity what is happening there now.

I think I had decided against the flick. Now I feel obligated to check it out.

I have a theory, not to be taken seriously. This springs from 4 decades of being employed to find patterns in chaos. Thought strings we call them. If they get more credible they become conspiracy theories. And if they gain gravity they become fact.

First the points of existing gravity:

1) Trump does not want to be president. This is for him a reality TV show. The goal is to keep everyone talking about him. Build up his brand.

2) Hillary Clinton is the anti-Christ. And like Thatcher before her she will be her country's last female leader.

Supposition: Trump has a deal to make Clinton president.

Hillary's problem lies in that whatever mud she has on whatever people won't be enough to whitewash her various scandals even with the US cowed media. Her attack machine will probably be strong enough but it can't be fully counted on.

Personally I doubt the GOP lets Trump win the nomination. If magically he does all he has to do is wait half way through the election and have a Trump sound bite so scary that even the base runs for cover. And the media laps it up like a good dog. Outcome Hillary wins.

If Trump doesn't win the GOP nomination, he makes the process sound fishy as hell (which it probably would be) and runs as an independent. Even more TV time for him. Gets to play jester, martyr and *beep* all at the same time. Publicity bonanza and no press is bad press. And outcome Hillary wins.

So in the battle of Bozo vs Evil, Bozo helps Evil win.

Just something for the mind to play with.

On a completely separate note: oh my Lord am I bored today.

"You can think of the body Politic as a real body. The quality of what goes in will effect the state of the body itself only. Regardless, what comes out will always be sh!t."

how do you still follow U.S. politics?

Unfortunately, when I am still called upon to work it is usually about predicting the repercussions of events as they pertain to the looming threat of hyperinflation of the Global Reserve Currency (aka the Federal Reserve Note, or more commonly, the US Dollar.) US politics is often a big piece of those puzzles so I have to swallow down the bile and stay abreast these matters in a sickening amount of detail.

is Turkey really buying cheap oil from I.S.

I wonder how many characters these replies can contain?
Seriously, that is a far more complex question than it would appear: 'yes', 'no', 'maybe', 'who knows?', "Turkey can't even be sure" and 'what difference, at this point, does it make?' are all valid answers. It depending on how you reframe the question. Key points are that a huge amount of oil from the Middle East is pumped through Turkey. The amount that is bought in transit for domestic is more of an aggregate. Now if the question you are really asking is 'Did Turkey shoot down that plane to protect it's interest in Islamic State oil?' Then, if oil was the reason, of which I am far from convinced, it would be to protect the distribution center as a whole some of which is IS oil.
That's the summary of the summary in very vague precoffee terms.

try dumbing down your mind man

My mind is all that is left of me. However when little is required of it I often stick it in neutral with my opiate of choice, TV.

Somehow I've become more comfortable with comments along the lines of "opinionated pain in the ass"  but I'll take the compliment. 

So we are in agreement that Turkey did shoot the Ruskie bird down...for some dubious reason of protecting a specific target.

We are in agreement that Turkey shot down a Russian jet. They admitted it and I don't see why they would lie. Beyond that I have no been read into materials on their motivations. Most likely wouldn't couldn't talk about it if I were. I truly doubt it was oil related as that fall under potential trigger event and I would be at least briefed. Otherwise it isn't a part of my usual wheelhouse.

Holidays mean anything to you?

My wife and I are both atheists (true atheists not anti-theists) and more apt to celebrate when the spirit moves us rather than the calendar. I've nothing against them, they've just never been a part of my life.

and how was Alien Trespass

Odd you should ask me this. I have a list, the only imdb list I ever made, of my 'favorite' 54 films. Alien Trespass is on it. If you are old enough to have enjoyed films of the era it is mimicking you will love it. If younger you will probably miss a lot of the wonderful little touches.
It was on Netflix, though maybe not the UK one. You really want the quality, YouTube isn't the way to go.

You seen Life...and Pawn Sacrifice yet?

Biographies are just too close to work. I make some exceptions for people like Turing. I touch of narcissism on my part (not placing myself on that level by any means but just manner in which problems are approached.) Fischer probably would have made that cut but I had to study so much on him when first starting out that I'm worn on the subject and would spend most of the time pointing out the flaws (which happens with the Turing films too alas.)

why are you not doing cannabis or hash?

The average expectancy on ALS is 3 to 5 years. I've just passed 8. I am stubbornly hanging on to see the Global Financial Collapse. It's an admittedly morbid goal but it has also been my life's work (predicting and setting protocols, not bringing it about .) So it is already an uphill and ongoing battle keeping my security clearance. Narcotics in my system would definitely cost me that battle.

And now I must say goodnight before the dawn breaks.

Which do you find to be the most prevalent truism?

reply

The first truism is rather common in these parts...in government...religion...commercial society in general too.

..."more apt to celebrate when the spirit moves us rather than the calendar."...heh...well put...I'd rather not label myself atheist...as it would imply I actually think there is an alternative. is that alright?...not labeling?

I find #2 for groups and #3 for people to be more predictive.

is that alright?...not labeling?

I didn't know I had the power to decide such things. 
The problem of labels is that they mean different things to different people yet most people assume that others are using their definitions. On the other hand labels are a good opening salvo for establishing an opening point of reference. However as one who tends to see things from many, usually too many, sides and so never fits neatly in any box, who am I to council labels?
For instance I, an atheist, still hold open the possibility that there might have been some kind of creator. However I am fixed in my belief that we couldn't possibly know what it was or what it wants/wanted if anything. However my wife, an atheist, firmly believes in the something from nothing creation belief system.

Bravo with the fight to the bitter end

Stubbornness more than anything else.  I've got all my senses and a lot of my mind. As terminal diseases go it could have been so much worse. In many ways my wife got the short end of the stick having to (choosing to) care for me.

oneleggoalie, English is not my native language but even in Spanish, which is, the indiscriminate use of ellipses usually indicates a lack of attention in orthography class during high school. You might to revise your way of writing if you want people to pay attention to your opinions. Good use of punctuation denotes culture.
