Should have ended after season 4 (spoilers)

I couldn't even finish the first half of season 5, it became such a convoluted mess, and every character besides Ivar was basically unbearably annoying. I still read about what is happening in the show. It just was not the same after Ragnar died. I think the end of Season 4 when the sons of Ragnar got their revenge is the perfect place to end the series.

They started introducing too many characters that no one was invested in; tried to give them precedence and then kill them off when it turned out no one was interested. Apparently after Season 5 they drop the Saxon story line completely. Lagertha should have been killed at the half way point of Season 5 just to keep things fresh and interesting. It just started spinning its wheels and didn't feel like it was really going anywhere and dragged too much.
