This show really lost its way...

... around the time Ragnar got hooked on drugs and became only semi-watchable after his death.

Also, hanging the show on his sons (who have had about 1/8th of the onscreen character development as Bjorn) and Lagertha (who should have been killed off at least a season ago) just isn't very interesting ... despite the increased gore in the battle scenes.
