Dina + Dominic are quad-racial

If you didn't see the "Meet" preview, Dina and Dominic addressed their ethnicity. Their Dad is Black/Japanese; their Mom is Northern European. It doesn't stop there. They were adopted and raised by a Puerto Rican family (Ruiz), growing up in Hawaii. Talk about multi-cultural. hahaha

Actually, their background was simplified in the E! Special, also titled as Episode 0. Some facts were even omitted.

They're quadracial, not triracial. Dina was much more specific about her cultural background in an interview by the Los Angeles Times back in December, 1998.

Dina mentioned that her and Dominic's biological paternal grandmother was part Japanese and part Native Hawaiian, and her biological paternal grandfather was part African American and part Native Hawaiian. This makes Dina ethnically an eighth African American, an eighth Japanese, a quarter Native Hawaiian, and half white.

Dina and Dominic's mother is a white American of Irish, English, and German descent.

As for her father's adoptive parents, they were both Americans. Dina's adoptive grandfather was of predominantly Portuguese American descent with some Puerto Rican ancestry, and her adoptive grandmother was an American of Puerto Rican descent.

Thanks for the info, Sensationofeuphoria. Very interesting. Dina looks like Annabella Sciorra at times and then a composite of recognizable Latina actresses on other occasions. Dominic looks Filipino or Samoan.

I didn't realize that the hour-long special was called "Episode 0". On that show, they had a scene where it appeared that two members of Overtone were dating each other. I wonder if we'll still see this because on Episode 1, the scene was not shown on "this season on Mrs. Eastwood & Co." montage. They've had the gay subplot with one of the singers but in that preview scene, it was Overtone confronting 2 of its members.

You're welcome, Peggy.

By the way, I think you might be referring to the pilot (Episode 1) in your post. The E! Special (Episode 0) was only a half hour long.

Exactly, Sansa. It's a very unexpected combination. Very cool indeed.

she's "multiracial", that's the simpler term, saves a lot of time.

Nonsense. Most of the U.S. population is comprised by white folks, not mixed-race.

Actor Tahj Mowry appeared on "The Wendy Williams Show" yesterday. As he sat there, I kept thinking to myself "who does he look like?" Well, the lightbulb came on when Wendy Williams told him (paraphrasing):
"You don't look black. You look Hispanic or Asian." Immediately, I thought of Dominic, Dina's brother. Their pix are below; compare for yourself. Thanks.

Oh, and it annoys me that both Dina and Dominic pronounce Ruiz "ROO-IZZ", as if they're trying to Anglicize it. It's a common Latino last name in the U.S. and I've always heard it as "ROO-EASE".
