Their Carmel and Hawaii homes.....

I watch this show sporadically and was struck at how their two homes seemed so out dated and kind of trashy. I've been to Carmel many times and the houses are so pretty and well taken care. I thought I would see a beautiful Eastwood home but when I watch scenes w the family I can see boxes and just lots of junk in the background. Even their Hawaii home just had a lot of cheap plastic furniture kind of scattered about. I wonder if they are having $$ problems or Clint just does not like to spend money on his real estate?

Well Dina doesn't like to unpack and is a hoarder so that gives to why the house looked like that. One episode she had a room full of Christmas gifts she hadn't given the girls yet!!

Rod: Ancestors protect me.
Kevin: May they protect you!

My impression of Clint is that he's old school and not very superficial. He may not care about stuff like that? And, I think Dina may have similar values.

i gotta agree that Clint just probably dont care about stuff like that..even Dina said that she dont buy into that celebrity sh$t and Clint is more extreme than her on the subject..maybe there comfortable in the two nice homes they have and just dont need the sprawling mansion with the tennis courts and helicopter pads..they just might not be into the whole Hollywood excess thing..
and clint has boatloads of cash so i say good for them..

Both houses looked POTENTIALLY very nice, however, broken down and uncared for. The fountain shown in front of the Carmel home in some opening shots has lots of broken/missing tile, both houses seem to have boxes and junk in the corners and in need of a deep cleaning and lots of fresh paint. I'm not a fan of big sprawling mansions either but the houses of Carmel are especially pretty and quite charming so I was expecting something more storybook pretty.

reply

I agree. The kitchen in their Carmel house doesn't seem very clean.

I can't really think of a decent signature right now.

I bet Clint has Dina on an allowance of some kind.
Maybe she can't afford to remodel on her budget?
And I bet the kind of wife who lasts long with Clint
does NOT ask him for money all the time...

I don't watch the show so I don't know what you guys are referring to, but I do find it appalling that she doesn't keep her homes up and I'm sure it has nothing to do with Clint not wanting to spend money. From the little bit I saw of the show, she acts low class which is surprising because Clint Eastwood has a reputation for being high class.

Are we sure this is really their home; some celeb reality shows shoot at another house so their homes are not damaged or seen.

reply

Maybe they just don't like to rub their wealth in everyone else's faces. Frankly, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they had a huge mansion people would be saying that they're flashy, but they have a modest home, and people are calling it 'trashy'. Really?

reply

Is that all it is? Since I don't watch the show, I don't have an opinion, but I got the impression it wasn't the size of the house, it was the upkeep. It doesn't matter what size house you have, if you don't keep it in good order, it can look trashy.

reply

It wasn't the size of the house....as I said, the homes were POTENTIALLY very pretty, just broken down and kind of dirty looking. I love Carmel and looked forward to seeing the real estate on this show (I'm kind of weird that way)so I was surprised to see the neglect of their home.

sonomagirl2120, haha! I just love this statement! I too am fascinated by real estate, and Carmel homes, like most of MOnterey CO can be fabulously shiny or earthy. I like to go online when I am bored and look at what I call real estate porn, it's healthier than food porn-because that will just make me wanna cook and have my belly grow larger!

reply

I agree with "luv to shop" and with "it may not even be their home". I can see why Clint would not be happy doing a reality show. I would have never put him through this crap.
