What did the nurse say about her mother's eyes?

It was quiet and unintelligible garble to me. Thanks

Spoiler ahead: after she said she wanted to donate her corneas I mean.

She said they put ice on her eyes because she wanted to donate her corneas. Is that what you mean?

reply

No nurse would inform someone who's relative had passed in that way. No "I'm sorry to say but..." Instead it's "we put ice on her dead face because she didn't need her eyes anymore cause she croaked." So insensitive that nurse had zero bed side manner. Didn't seem realistic to me.

reply

Not every nurse has good bedside manner.

No they certainly do not. Plus I understood that the nurse didn't realize that Reese and her poor brother had not yet been informed of their mother's death. This happens in real life; hospitals (especially with healthcare workers dealing with dying relatives) are often brutal places, and staff members often don't know details about "uncle joe's situation." Nurses especially have large numbers of patients to deal with and keeping track of whether or not relative x has been informed of relative y's death, in a long-term situation like this one, is much more challenging than those of us outside of the medical profession might think.
