This looks rubbish

Idris what have you done, this trailer ain't that impressive and his accent in this is beyond ridiculous , defo was the wrong choice for Mandela in this version of his biopic .

He looks as South African as James Caan looked Italian in The Godfather. But since I didn't let the latter bother me, I won't hold it against Idris, especially since he wasn't the casting director. The worst part is that he lacks Mandela's charisma and sensitivity.

Klarasmith : obviously you don't know *beep* about acting or movies ...period ! I'm guessing your an idris groupie obsessing about his looks overlooking his acting talent and drooling over his looks !! He is a great actor don't get me wrong : Luther, the wire .....pacific rim was not bad ! I think he was the wrong choice for this role and that's it period !!

Oh but you do?

Which is just your opinion. Just because you don't think it looks like he portrays Mandela well, doesn't mean that others will share that opinion, and no that doesn't mean that they have to be some "Idris groupie." The movie and Elba are serious Oscar contenders and I read an article yesterday about why the director (or producer) selected Elba for the role.

No need to go on some childish insulting rant simply because someone disagrees with you.

Of course it's just his opinion. But then again, so is yours "just an opinion".

He's writing his opinion on a message board, so I think we're all pretty aware that it's "just his opinion".

Hey, you know when people write reviews of films, it's "just their opinion"?

And when Oscars give out awards to particular films, the Academy does so because it's "just their opinion"?

Jesus, everything's an opinion these days. Opinion is a funny word. Sounds like onion. It has layers.

I'm not the one confused about the difference between facts and opinions, so I don't know why you felt the need to respond to me. And if the OP knew that it was just his opinion, then he wouldn't have been spouting off about the other poster simply because he disagreed with him. I believe his exact words were: "obviously you don't know *beep* about acting or movies ...period." So why don't you respond to the OP, capiche?

I won't bother reading beyond the above quote, since it's obvious that you missed something.

Why my friend, don't you know that old quote?

Well my friend, because you seem to be getting hung up on one man's opinion. It's not the end of the world if he feels this way about films or actors you may like. Everything is quite relative under the circumstance.

You might want to read my post again. I could care less about his opinion of IE. I do care, however, that people seem to think that it's okay to insult other posters simply because they disagree with them. Like I said in my first post to you, it's obvious that you missed something.

EDIT:

Also, I may agree with his assessment of IE here. While I enjoy the actor and his works, I'm not sure he has the chops to pull off this particular individual. I'm reserving judgment until I've actually seen a trailer or the movie itself. But you keep thinking that I'm getting all hung up on his opinion.

Meh, to be honest I think that poster kind of had that insult coming. Rather than sticking to the topic of the OP, he directly attacked his opinion in a snarky way, and then went and made a very black and white statement.

And it turned out that the OP's opinion was reasonably backed up anyway.

Btw, I also liked Idris Elba in Prometheus, which is the only film I've seen him in. But I don't think that this Mandela movie looks very good. At least, not compared to the Clint Eastwood one.
