...where does Mandela sit alongside others who have turn away from peaceful and picked up weapons to ensure their country's freedom?

The 20th Century gave us Michael Collins, Mahatma Gandhi, Che Guevara, Martin Luther King Jr and Nelson Mandela. Two of these men chose non-violence while three of them chose violence and in the case of Collins invented modern urban guerilla warfare.

Where then does this lead people's morals when looking for national heroes, even if they achieved their aims.
