I thought she was brilliant and she didn't even get a nomination for the crappy golden globes! I guess they thought since they nominated Elba and Ejiofor, that was enough black people for one year. It's nice nothing has changed.

I don't feel like she was given enough to work with in the movie to deserve a nomination. While Winnie was given her due, there wasn't much to note when it came to her rise and fall. Even when they noted her imprisonment and then the Mandela soccer club, and her possible affair, it seemed glazed over and not really told in a way which would establish her as a real force.
Either way, it was better than Jennifer Hudson's take on her.

I always say fk the awards anyway BUT I totally agree. I've been saying this since Oct. Saw it @TIFF and cried for that lady for 2/3rd of the movie. She did an amazing job.
