Idris Elba vs Morgan Freeman

Well i first of all want to pay my apologies for i have not read the book but i am greatly moved by the film. I am a white man from Pakistan but i greatly greatly liked the film and his undoubted struggle for freedom of his rights. I have really no doubts about any controversy but i want to ask you something, i felt that Idris Elba was SO-SO for this role,instead Morgan Freeman was a better option for this role and he has played this role before too.

Morgan Freeman was too old to play Mandela from young man to elder statesman. So it required a younger actor, hence Idris Elba who I thought played the role very well.

I think that both Morgan and I dries played the part very well.

not a lot between them in my opinion. I'd probably go Idris Elba if I was pushed because his accent was a lot better than Freemans. But yeah they were both good.

Morgan Freeman is a fine actor who is well suited to play the older Mandela.

Idris Elba was perfect in the role. It's a shame this movie didn't get the recognition it deserves, and Elba's performance especially.

It has been said that Morgan Freeman was born to play Nelson Mandela and he did so (brilliantly) in Invictus. Unfortunately, as others have said, he was too old to play the younger version of Mandela required in this movie, but for me, Freeman's portrayal of the older Mandela in Invictus remains the greatest.
