Questions for high voltage linemen
So just how unrealistic is this film?

I'm not a high voltage lineman, but I'd say it's pretty realistic. A Google search for "electrocuted stealing copper wire" returns about 7300 results. And just a few months ago, the autopsy of a mummified man who was found in a Tucson, AZ manhole revealed that he was electrocuted, probably while stealing copper wire.

What I don't understand is why when Arbor cuts the big cable, he isn't electrocuted. The cable is inches across so must be carrying a huge voltage, so even the slightest leak should have fried him. Yet when Swifty picks up the wire he gets blasted almost instantly. I don't get it.
shareThe scrap metal guy made Arbor take off all his metal accessories (like chains and zippers) and wear protective boots and gloves to avoid him being electrocuted. Not sure if that would have sufficed in real life though.
