Sherlock and Dirk

Watching DIRK GENTLY is like watching a drunken version of SHERLOCK. Gently does the same things Holmes does but with an emphasis on randomness that Holmes would not tolerate.
Either that or Holmes would rationalize after the fact, claiming an insight that caused him to pursue a seemingly random factor.
Gently on the other hand is guided by a relentless belief that everything will make sense eventually.
Richard MacDuff, Gently's assistant ("Partner! And co-owner in the agency!") would get along great with John Watson. They'd have a helluva lot in common.
An image I made up in regards to SHERLOCK and DIRK--
