I guarded Ross in Liverpool Hospital after the Viking Hotel incident. He had a rasping Lowland Scots accent, something like Billy Connolly with a tendency to a Sergeant Major's close order voice. He also smiled a lot more than the actor.
Ross had a pale Pom look about him while the actor looks Polynesian.
