Look at this quote of Bill Engvall when asked about Ron:

Ron didn’t want to write new clean material,” said Engvall, calling from Los Angeles. “In fact, we told him we’re going to go out again and he said, ‘I can’t write 30 minutes of new clean material.’ We said he did it before. Ron has his own little deal now and there hasn’t been any big divorce or daddy’s not cheating on mom. He just wanted to pursue other things, while we enjoy being out on the road together.”

if you'll recall they teamed up w/o White for Blue Collar TV, and the most frequently asked Question was "Where's Ron?"... the shifted dynamic due to the lack of Ron might be part of why CW (or was it WB at the time) didn't renew it for a second season
