But better. Gerard Butler kills the enemies with a knife. Slashed throats, stab to the skull. The other movie was lame

reply

Not really. They're both good movies but this one is better because it has more replay value than White House Down because it's alot shorter.

reply

Way better imho. White House down was snooze fest, this one made me excited

reply

Yes it pretty much is but Olympus is a HELLUVA LOT BETTER !!

reply

Technically White House Down is the same movie as Olympus Has Fallen. Olympus came out about three months ahead.

reply

That's what I thought as well but wasn't sure.

reply

I think both movies worked as action flicks, but I preferred OHF to WHD due to the nature of the villains. OHF broke from the usual Hollywood paradigm of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy.

I don't know about anyone else but I have long been weary of Hollywood's obsession with the VRWC. It is a very major turn-off for me.

reply

The only VRWC was the one to frame Bill Clinton for an imbroglio with Monica Lewinsky. Oh, wait, that wasn't a conspiracy, it really happened.

reply

Clinton was not framed about anything. The 'imbroglio' with Ms Lewinsky actually did happen. It was his lying under oath about it. Perjury and obstruction of justice.

reply

You must not have read my second sentence before reiterating it in your second sentence

reply

I thought you meant something else. Sorry

reply

Hollywood often releases movies in pairs. Someone has an idea no one likes, so it sits on the shelf. Then some other studio announces their movie on the same topic, and the other studio rushes their own bad idea into production to compete.

reply

This was better because it didn't use the hackneyed premise of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy. The bad guys are not neo-Nazis, racists, and Klansmen, but actually Marxists here.

I get so sick of Hollywood and its' obsession with the VRWC.

reply

Like Volcnao and Dante's Peak.

Interesting Trivia: In the 1970's, two rival studios bought rights to different books about a fire in a high rise. Rather than compete they pooled their resources and produced Towering Inferno together.

reply

And simultaneously OHF is a rip-off of Die Hard, filmed 3 decades after this had ceased to be a fad in US cinema

reply

Except that WHD is a gay Leftist creampuff and OHF is an awesome, brutal action thriller for adults.
