But I found PIETA to be tedious and self-indulgent. Glad it didn't get short-listed for Best Foreign Film. So many other superior choices.

I love Ki-duk Kim as a director. Most of his movies are weird with a bit of humor and sexiness thrown in for fun. This movie was so dark and conveyed such a feeling of hopelessness and despair that I hardly recognized it as the work of one of my favorite directors. Don't get me wrong. I thought it was good, but it's the only Kim movie I've seen so far that I found disturbing. Can't wait to see more of his films. I think I've seen half a dozen now.

Yeah, this movie was "ok". I found it more funny than disturbing for the most part simply due to the characters being over the top and dramatic. Too predictable every step of the way but entertaining enough to sit through for one viewing. Not nearly his best...


