28 feet ???

I mean 28 feet is like 8 meters depth, as a scubadiver myself I used to dive to 40 meters and even down to 59 meters dept, ofcourse I could not stay too long at those depts because of nitrogen buildup in my system... but at 8 meters ... can stay much longer.

So, is there a possibility of getting the bends if one dives to 28 feet and stays there for 4 hours or more?

reply

yeah that could be possible, but also while we used to dive deep we used to have safty stops at 6 meters and 3 meters to get nitrogene out of the system so diving at 8 meter would make it hard to get bends but ofcourse not impossible.

I saw on discovery once, I think the show was called seven deadliest seas or depths, and a scuba diver dove 30ft and came up quick and is now a quadriplegic.

I spoke to a former US Navy dive-master who referred me to NAUI Dive Charts.

6 hours on the bottom at 8 meters would definitely build enough gas in your blood to require decompression.
Even at 30 ft the body is subjected to 2+ ATA.
