Ending Spoiler/Explanation
Am I correct in assuming that the baby that was created was a result of the genes of the dog, and the dna (genes) of his owners blood when he licked his hand?

shareYep.
shareI really loved that part...I thought it was the light at the end of the tunnel :)
sharehow was that a light? it was horrible
shareI understand why Tanja didn't want to kill it, women and 'babies'....
But it should have been killed by Janek.
Even if it grows up partially human, what kind of life would it really get as a 'freak'?

... what kind of life would it really get as a 'freak'?There's probably some carnival somewhere seeking a pet for its two headed man/woman sideshow.🐭 share
Seeing as how Janek was the "father," contributing genes and all, I don't know why you think he should have less reason to keep it alive than Tanja. Unless you wholeheartedly buy into gender stereotypes, that is.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!"--Pres. Merkin Muffley
Well, the dogbaby was light at end of the tunnel; hope that the new species could be benign.
But seeing ever glacier contaminated by the microorganisms is pretty much the horror.
Bringing the hybrid creature back to "civilization" was a bad move and one Tanya should have known better than to do. Janek had the right idea.
But seeing that this is not the end of the conflict as via the blood still pouring from the glacier and more and more animals become infected; the creatures eventually making their way off the mountain is a given. So I guess it really doesn't matter.
The ending with the dog baby was absolutely atrocious and just killed the whole thing for me.
shareHow'd the damn dog even get pregnant in the first place? Did it get humped by the (un)dead rabid fox?!
shareDamn baby! I was rooting for a dog / man mutation that would kill at least two of the people hiding in the station? Why did so many survive?
shareThey only survived because the old lady everyone was so worried about was a hardcore survivalist.
I still don't get the reasoning for taking the hybrid with them, though. All the crazy scientists who could have actually have an interest in such a creature were going by that point, and that bloody thing was responsible for Tinnie's death, bloody hell.
