There's a good chance that the show is off the show now. At least the prevailing rumors are that Super Fun Night will not be back for a 2nd season. However, if it is to come back for a 2nd season it will need some major retooling so it may be the dropping Richard is part of said retooling.

If it does come back, I don't know if removing Richard is the answer though. He wasn't really the issue on why it didn't work, plus he was the only regular male character.
