Really hope they don't cancel this

Everyone knows how quickly Comedy Central can go through shows, a lot of the time not even giving a show a second chance with another season (which could prove a lot more successful). As far as "The Burn" goes, I think it's an excellent one. It consistently has comedians on it who are actually funny. Of course there are scripts for the show, but to me it also seems that there's a lot of improv when they're at their podiums. So much of what CC has put out in the past decade has done little more than make me crack a smile, but I can say this one has made me laugh out loud on many occasions. In my opinion I think this, 'Workaholics, and 'Key and Peele' are some of the best shows they've put out since Chappelle called it quits, and I can only hope both go on until they're run dry. CC has a great lineup at the moment.

I was surprised to see the Burn back on tonight. I thought it was great and better than any of the episodes last year. Hopefully the viewership reflects that.

Most of what they say is written for them. Some comedians write their own stuff like Jeselnik. Some of the others, like that woman from The Hangover, didn't write anything at all and had the staff writers write down all of her jokes. They also do like an hour or more of the show and then cut it down to 20 minutes.

The show is okay, but they get neutered often. They heavily censor some of the jokes. Like today's episode had Jeff saying 'n-word' instead of the actual word because Comedy Central told him that that word was off limits. Also they told Jeff after one of the first season episodes that Trayvon Martin jokes were off limits. Jim Norton said on O&A that the best jokes don't make it to air.

Comedy Central also books the same people over and over. Jeselnik just did a special (that's hilarious) and he has a new show on CC so they'll keep him coming back. If the show had any clout they'd be booking real killers like Paul Mooney, Nick Dipaolo, or Chris Rock. They had Dave Attell on but he looked like he hated it. The show is no Tough Crowd that's for sure.

This is the same network that censored Jeff's Aurora shooting joke. He ended up bringing a tape of that joke to the Howard Stern Show and playing it. I'm not sure if he likes having his best stuff get cut for political correctness. His 'too soon' bits are pretty awesome but I'm sure they have to go through standards and practices.

The show is good but after you watch an episode once it's pretty run its course. It's not like a good standup special or an old Stern or O&A tape that are timeless.

I agree...it is good for what it is...I am a huge Stern fan and listen just about everyday so I know right where you are coming from. CC has interesting lines that they draw. People like Tosh and Ross could easily be much more offensive if the network would allow it....I mean who edit's a roast anyway?

Comedy Central tries to do the politically incorrect thing, and sometimes it works (the roasts, South Park), sometimes it seems forced. But being a Viacom network, it seems they toe the line very carefully. It's not just CC though; all the networks follow ridiculously arbitrary PC regulations.

TV censors are so inconsistent and such a joke. Some examples; You can say ass, but not assh0Ie(on here too apparently) "god dammit" and "sh!t" are fine (brilliant South Park episode), but stuff like pussy usually gets bleeped. Keeping on the topic of that, apparently it's fine to be used when calling someone a coward, but when it refers to female genitalia it gets censored. A funny example of that is the TV version of Kill Bill, instead of Buck's truck saying "Pussy Wagon" it got changed to "Party Wagon", in one of the worst and blatantly obvious image overlays I've ever seen. I guess it's fine and dandy to let your kid watch 87 guys get slashed to bits with a katana, but dog forbid he hears the word pussy.

It's all completely retarded. You know something is screwed up wrong when extreme violence and sex are a-okay but 'bad words' aren't. When are people going to realize that every kid learns those words in elementary school? The language they use in South Park is a very realistic portrayal of how kids that age speak when no adults are around.

One of these days, I'm going to put a list of movies that should never air on basic cable, at least not before the "Safe Harbor" hours. That's one of them ("My name is Buck...and I like to !", along with anything else by Quentin T. Although I'd rather have the bad basic cable dubs, as opposed to hearing a mute every 20 seconds.

The Burn seems to require a very low budget. That may save it from being canceled for a while. Sure hope so. It's a heck of a lot funnier than some other similar shows, like Chelsea Lately (which I do like, but E! keeps it on a tight PC leash).

I think they have an unusual number of good shows right now. Workaholics, The Burn, what I've seen of Key and Peele has made me laugh, Tosh.0 (not a huge fan but it's wildly popular), South Park (some duds of course), and of course Daily Show/Colbert. Off the top of my head their only show that's a real dud is Brickleberry, which is ironically worse than any show Tosh has mentioned before commercial breaks. I haven't seen The Kroll Show yet so I can't comment on that one. I'm really hoping Anthony Jeselnik's show is a hit too, I think he's hilarious.
