Is J Rome overrated?

Even though J Rome is a good singer and all but I wonder if people find him overrated since his performances sound the same and doesn't really have much of a personality that makes him stand out.

UMMM OKAY

disagree... he is pretty much owning the competition at this point. Although, John is also doing really well. If J Rome doesn't win this thing it would be quite a surprise, however, I wouldn't be upset if John won.

J Rome is just so comfortable. He looks like he is already a celebrity. John's voice is great, better even than J Rome but he doesn't have the swagger (for want of a better word)

reply

He's also got the best duet partner. It's pretty clear now that Jennifer is the best duet entertainer/partner on this show. It would be interesting to see if J Rome would be as good with someone like Kelly or Robin.

I'm wishing more and more than there were fewer contestants and only two stars (Jen one of them - find someone else who is part of a duo for the other) and that the contestants got a chance to work with both stars and then let the viewers decide who stays and who goes, but only after a couple of weeks, so one week they sing and the next week they announce who is gone, perhaps including a sing-off. It would be a lot less like The Voice and a lot more fair to the contestants plus a lot more fun for the viewers.

You're entitled to your opinion as long as I'm entitled to mine. And this is mine!

reply

Um No. J Rome is one of the best contestants there.

J. Rome is the best. The first duet he did with Jennifer, where he had to hold all those long notes without a breath, was excellent. Olivia is pretty, but she has limited vocal ability and should have been done last week, and the other contestants lack that "star" quality that J. Rome clearly has. That heavy guy with the good voice sounds identical to the Rascal Flatts lead singer, so J is the hands-down winner in my opinion.

reply

In comparison to everyone else on the show? Not really. Nettles other guy is a nice singer and can have a nice career as a country singer but like someone else said he's similar to the lead singer of Rascal Flatts. kelly's boy is not bad but like someone else said the song choices aren't great but if Nettles was his coach she'd take him to the moon. Legend's girl is pretty good too. But J. Rome's got the entire popstar package. Too many of the realities show aren't looking hard enough for real potential stars and I think he's the closest.

I hope you like feminist rants because that's kind of my thing.

J-Rome deserves the respect he's getting as a vocalist and performer. This guy is the best on the show and I would be surprised if he did not win the competition.

I am usually one to pull away from a contestant when I feel he/she receives over-the-top praise and when the judges continually gush over a singer, especially after a performance that doesn't deserve it...J Rome has earned every bit of it and more. J Rome and John Glossen are ridiculously good and I am happy a reality talent show has me excited to watch the next episode.

I am IMDb's resident thread-killer. Apparently.

J Rome bombed on the final voting episode. The duet reeked... and the solo reeked worse. Too many Michael Jackson ripoff moves... he even used some of the signature MJ sounds in between lines.

IMO, Jason Ferol's duet with Kelly was the best of the night. Sure, his solo was okay and all, but John's was definitely better. Either of them should win, but sadly, the judges have licked J Rome's ass since day one so he's going to win the whole thing.

reply

Yeah, I'm thinking Jason won this night but J Rome was good. I won't say bombed. I didn't like either of John's performances. Let this be our prayer... he sang good but Jennifer can't do the sort, calming thing Celine does and I thought he was all over the place in his solo.
