When questioned about what motivated the decision, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos commented, “Why not pick it up? Gripping, sensual, clever, Dracula is Netflix caliber entertainment and people around the world can’t get enough of it. Now, we’re excited to announce that they won’t have to.”

Nope. This website is the same one that started the false rumor last summer that the show would continue in the UK. I don't know why they lie and get your hopes up but they do. Perhaps they hope the rumor would stir interest.

1. The actor who played Van Helsing has a six year contract to work for Disney / Marvel. NBC / Universe is their direct competition.

2. Most of the actors have moved on to other projects.

3. Netflix already has a slate locked up for the next few years with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and the Defenders from Marvel / Disney. Yet again NBC / Universal is direct competition here.

4. It seems this article is confused by the fact that Dracula The series is now available on Netflix. I recall similar misunderstandings from hopeful Dresden Files fans when that show's reruns were brought to Youtube and Hulu.

5. NBC / Universe is reviving it's Monsters for a "shared universe." And Dracula Untold is coming to DVD / Blu Ray in about a week. They don't want what is called "Market confusion" so they will not have too many incarnations of Dracula at the same time from the same company. It would just cause confusion and over-saturation.

6. This show was pretty terrible... (In the opinion of the majority...)

Yes, that was Van Helsing. He was also Dracula in Argento's Dracula last year.

The fact that it didn't find the viewers it needed to stay on the air indicates that the majority were unimpressed or uninterested.

About the auditorium's size:
Nearly 40.000 people across the world signed the Petition.
This Dracula here at much, much more viewers...more than Hannibal (2013), Penny Dreadful (2014) and True Blood (2008).

Empire News also claimed BBC was picking it up last summer. It's wrong. It's thoroughly wrong. The actors have all moved on. Van Helsing's actor is now under contract with Marvel / Disney, the direct competitor of NBC / Universal. And NBC / Universal just released Dracula: Untold to video this week. They don't want market confusion.

Netflix just made a huge deal with Marvel (again, direct competition with NBC Universal) for four new original series. They have no reason to pick up a failed NBC / Universal show.

NBC / Universal is the same company that owns USA Network and Syfy. If they were going to revive Dracula (And they are not) It would have gone over to Syfy the way BBC's Merlin did.
