SyFy Channel....when will start airing in US?

Anyone know by chance?

reply

Already been discussed in the thread titled "US release" that is just a little ways down from the top.

No, no one knows but the geniuses at SciFi(no, I will not spell it the other way). And so far, they aren't sharing.

Why wait for them to air a censored, cut-down version?

How else are we supposed to watch if we don't want to be watching a tiny computer screen? Or for those of us who don't even have internet access at home at this time? Or for those of us who can't get Canadian tv? For some of us SciFi(will not spell it the other way) is the only way we CAN watch shows that are aired in other countries. Until I had access to BBC America that's how I watched Doctor Who, which SciFi conveniently stopped airing a while back also.

For me, even when I had internet access, my computer was so crappy I couldn't watch anything on it because the stupid thing was constantly stopping and "buffering." Plus, if I'm going to watch a tv show or movie, I want it to be on a big tv screen, not a small computer screen.

Most Blu-Ray players today will play most of the video formats in use, such as AVI, MP4, MKV, etc. Many (most?) of them also have a USB port on them that will accept a flash drive, or even an external hard drive, although an HD will need a dedicated power supply. Since Blu-Ray players are meant to be hooked up to TVs, it provides an easy way to get content from the net onto a TV.

I'd be remiss however if I didn't mention Cinavia, which is a new form of copy protection that the movie industry got them to include in most Blu-Ray players. It's used on theatrical movies and Blu-Ray discs and is encoded in the audio. So if the player has Cinavia and you try to play a file taken from either of those sources, it will stop playing after about 20 minutes. Having said that, my friend hasn't had any problem playing anything on his BR player yet.

I've gotten computers that were put out for trash that, while not state of the art, worked well enough to play AVI files and browse the net.

Get a better computer. They make ones that attach to big screen tvs now.

Loki, I couldn't afford a better computer at the time and until I got one for Christmas, I didn't have one as mine had died and I was too broke to buy a new one. I also do not have internet at home right now aside from on my phone as I canceled it when I didn't have a computer. Now I can't find a provider that's cheap and doesn't require a phone line. My last internet provider was my cell phone company, but for various reasons they suck and once my phone contract is up I'm going with someone else so don't want to start up a new contract with them.

Plus, I don't want to mess around with that. I'm not techy so have no desire to figure out how to hook up my computer to my tv and get whats on the computer to play on the tv. Never gonna happen. I will glady watch it on SciFi(once the geniuses decide to air it) and if I like it enough once I see it, I will buy the Canadian dvd of it down the road since they play in our dvd players.

I take it you also can't hook a cable box or DVR to your TV because the procedure is the same.

Personally I can watch it on an 20-foot computer screen if I want to. Any decent TV or projector today has VGA and HDMI inputs.

That's not your computer, that's your Internet connection. It stops because it's not getting bits as fast as it's showing them.

I don't believe it has been announced when it will air in the US. But my guess is it will air this Summer. With Alphas cancelled and Warehouse 13 airing in the Spring Syfy doesn't have any original scripted content to air this Summer. So I could see New World airing on Mondays or Fridays starting in July (or so).
