Aprils hair

It looks terrible like that it was distracting

reply

It's appropriate. My sister always cut her hair fairly short because she was a nurse and didn't want her hair in the way. When she had her baby and took care of my niece, she let it grow for three years and it was almost down to her ass before she had time to cut it. I don't know black women that well, but I do know keeping straight hair for a black woman is a long and involved process that she wouldn't have time for caring for a baby. I take it you don't have kids.

reply

It was a simple statement I made relax. I've never seen her hair that way before

reply

You mean her hair in it's natural state?? How dare a black woman not straighten her hair..?

reply

That ain't her natural hair....COME ON NOW.

reply

What are you talking about?

reply

Uh not all black people have kinky, thick, or even curly hair. Some of us have a mixture of different kinds of hair.

Don't stereotype.

reply

thank you

reply

Actually, it is. I work on the show and that is most definitely her real hair.

reply

Excuse me? Uh, fool, that IS April's natural hair. And guess what? She doesn't need YOUR white approval to wear it that way.

NEXT....!

It was a simple statement I made relax. I've never seen her hair that way before And I was expecting it. Nothing about her race like grow up

Lol did you also think Karen's hair was distracting when she cut it? Or Savi? Probably not. There was nothing wrong with April's hair.

reply

You can relax it was just a simple statement.... I don't like that look on her it's not because of her race. I wasn't fond of Karen's either. I've never seen her hair like that so relax

reply

If you straighten black hair, they use some harsh chemicals to do it like lye. Whatever you eat or are exposed to the baby eats, so it wouldn't surprise me that she would go with a "natural" hair style. I think it is much ado about nothing, but if you don't know any black people you wouldn't pick it up.

reply

Exactly! Thank you

reply

It is not entirely true that lye is used to straighten black hair. Some get a wash and set, then the hair is straightened with a blow dryer and a special bristle brush.

When her hair is straight, it looks more like a blow out, than a relaxer with lye to straighten.

Also, some seem to insinuate her hair is not all hers or "natural". I have watched this actress for years and I have always seen her wear it curly form the most part and it is all hers.

I believe one if not both of her parents are from Belize. I have several friends from Belize and Haiti with very thick, curly hair. They all have at least one story to tell where others are skeptical about whether there hair is real or not. Some going as far as to sneak their fingers into their roots to see if there are any tracks (used in hair weaves). It is so ridiculous that I have to laugh.

reply

So good to know you find black women's natural hair texture distracting. Girl, bye. Spend less time worrying about April's hair and more time worrying about your own.
