Favorite/least favorite character?

First of all, started watching this show because of Alyssa Milano, didn't expect much but I really liked it. Eventually I was sad she exit the show, would love to see her back but she was never my favorite character. For me that's Karen. I loved her from the beginning, don't have a specific reason. The least favorite is Joss. I can't stand that character. Her stupidity (especially season 3) made me really mad whenever I was watching. Everything about that woman is repulsive. I know many will not agree, but we are here to exchange opinions :) Who are yours? :)

Like you, I always loved Karen. I hated Joss at first, but she redeemed herself for me in Seasons 2 and 3. Unfortunately, I can feel myself growing to dislike her this season already. I know it's way too early to judge, but I'm not liking the 'let me do this self defense and hide it from everyone to be mysterious' plot line. Hoping there's more.
(Savi was the WORSTTTTTTT though)

Oh and I really like Harry. But that's probably just because of the accent ;)

Karen never ending streak of bad decisions gets on my nerves.
And among the secondary characters I still can't believe that April chose to be with this man child Mark, I cannot stand him. Wanting to be in a band is fine when you're in your teens or early 20s. At his age it's just ridiculous.

I love Karen the most and Joss the least. I find Joss interesting and the actress playing her to be pretty good, but her and Harry's story gets way to much time on this show. They keep trying to frame her story in a positive way, but their story is just gross because of the way they Harry and Joss got together. It happened too fast and was too much of a betrayal with everything that was going on in that exact moment. I think of Joss as a villain, albeit a sweet and well-meaning one.

It would have been less offputting if Harry and Joss went their separate ways after they were caught and then revisted it after many years, after Savi moved away and became distant with her sister and friends. Also, April and Karen were Savi's best friends and Joss was Savi's little sister. They would never side with or support Joss to the extent that they did even if they were supportive of the relationship. It would have been from a distance and April/Karen would have naturally grown more distant from Joss after that even if they did remain friends.

This whole scenario that is playing out right now would make sense had it happened after like 2 or 3 years.

But since they didn't go that route, Joss should be a secondary character and the main focus of Mistresses should be Karen, April, Harry, and Matt... maybe another girl too. I wouldn't mind seeing Matt's sister/son on the show from time to time too. That was such a messy storyline!

And I need Joss and Savi's storyline on a spinoff! I'm dying to see Joss and Savi and their parents going at it.

April's daughter is also one of my least favorites. I don't know if it's the actress or the writing but April's daughter just comes off... miserable all the time like she's constipated. She should just stay in the background instead of getting storylines because her character is very offputting.

I too think Harry and Joss story is gross, And I'm tired of them trying to sell it like love concurs all. I hope they bring back Joss ex.

It's a tie between Karen and April for whom I like best -- and Joss the least. Also, April's daughter is another character that rubs me the wrong way. The child is sneaky and extremely disrespectful.

My favorite is Karen (it was Savi). Karen actually has the most interesting storylines on the show. My least favorite is Joss. I'm sorry but sleeping with and getting engaged to your sister's ex-husband is DISGUSTING!!! I've heard people say, "Well Savi cheated on Harry" as if that excuses him getting with her sister and her sister getting with him. It just rubs me the wrong way. Also, no way do I believe that Harry is Joss's one true love, LOL, that's laughable!! I also liked her better as carefree Joss and sort of in the background. They've centered the show around her too much. They portray her as if she's matured but she really hasn't. She's only stopped having sex with every Tom, Dick and Harry (LOL).

The thing is, well maybe there is a few things with Harry and Joss. Savi was still in love with Harry when they Joss and Harry both discovered they were in love. Joss was involved in Savi and Harry's break up. From losing the baby to delivering messages to selling her house. She knew how her sister was hurting, that alone should have been a deterrent. Sooner or later she will be compared to the wife of 13 years, her sister, whom she was involved with there split. Also Harry is temperamental and at least ten years her senior.

I guess that I'm in the minority, but Karen is my least favorite. Favorite used to be Joss, but she's annoying. If April gets rid of Mark she will be my favorite. No offense to him, but April can do better.

This^ I don't know why the writers thought it was a good idea to pair April with Mark. I saw it coming all last season, and still hoped that it wouldn't happen. And now, to see, that 1yr has passed, and she still can't see that he's far from the man that she deserves is just sickening. I cringe whenever they're on screen, and the constant "babe" is too much!

Mistresses is the only show I'm watching this summer and with A/M and J/H's relationship both cringe-worthy and prominent on the show, I don't know how long I'll last.

While I do understand that you think April can "do better" as Mark is not the typical male persona a show would put her with, but I think this dynamic is more realistic these days. April is not looking to be taken care of, she can do that on her own. She needs Mark in her life because he is honest, loving, genuine and doesn't allow her to not question her motives or facets of her life she may ignore. He is subtle in how he allows April to discover what she really wants. He has a gentle hand with her and allows her to grow as a mother, business woman and dreamer. He takes care of her in that way. I think you should give them another chance!

reply

Mark is a lazy bum. I don't care how "honest, loving and genuine" he is. April is a single mom with her own business and bills to pay. And you'd think that Mark would help out around the house, at least, since he's not helping to pay any bills. But instead, we see April text him and ask him to cook dinner (shouldn't that already be his job given that she works?) and he frowns like it's too much to ask of him. I also don't see Mark as honest, loving and genuine. I see him as a selfish man-child that most seem to think is acceptable in today's society.

I'm with you. I never said that April should be taken care of, but like LadyJEsq said, Mark is a man child. I don't mind him being in a band because I know people in the entertainment industry and you have to follow your dreams, but at the same time they have jobs and other responsibilities until they get their big break. I don't see Mark doing that. It's nice that he supports her, but he just doesn't seem like he's mature enough for her. I don't know if I was the only one that noticed that April seemed disappointed that her new client was married.

reply

Mark is a nonsense character.

The writers should've never screwed with Blair like that? I can understand creating drama, but he should've been the constant man in April's life not Mark.

The whole situation of him living with her in S2 was crap as well.
