Terrible, just terrible

I put this on in the background while doing other things and I couldn't even see this through. The fight scenes were amateurish and the acting the same.

AVOID this unless you are a die-hard MJW fan.

I love White and this was still an awful movie. MJW has made several solid STV movies lately so this was obviously a let down because of the writing/directing. It seemed like the directors first movie. This movie pretty much did nothing well. Like you said, even the fight scenes were outdated and weak.

You know your action movie sucks when even the action scenes are lame...

Why, because they weren't edited in hyper-kinetic mode and you could actually see some technique used? Sorry man, but your comment's kinda lame itself.

Good film with some decent actors, solid action and definitely worth a look.🐭

The story concept was good but the script lacked cleverness and wit. Many lines were lame and or obvious making the film 100% predictable.

It helps to have surprises along the way. For me there were none, though I enjoyed the action sections and the lead actors performance.

For a "martial arts" film, I really think it was anything but predictable.

A lot of the support characters were drawn pretty well and given a fair portion of onscreen time to develop their characters. I liked the idea of the Brazilian setting, even though it was filmed in Puerto Rica for obvious budgetary reasons.

... the script lacked cleverness and wit.
Again, this is a Michael Jai White martial arts film. I can't think of too many martial arts films in cinematic history, whose scripts are noted for their "cleverness and wit". This one definitely had a couple of twists and turns in it.🐭

Lol exactly. No one sees martial arts movies to see cleverness and wit in the script. They watch it to see some ass get kicked and that is delivered.

spookyrat, I direct you to Kurosawa‘s Samurai films for superb wit, directing and acting.

^This. MJW is always amazing, with exceptional form. IRL, he’d snap Keanu in half and drink his bone marrow, but freaking John Wick has become the action standard, apparently. This was a reply to spookyrat, but this lane site dumped my post down here.
