Cory Monteith's Final Film

No matter if "McCanick" is Good or Bad it will receive a lot of interest because it's the last film of "Glee" star, Cory Monteith. Monteith died of a drug overdose in his hometown, Vancouver, in July; and had a small part in "McCanick" that he filmed late in 2012.
It's just been announced that the film will premiere at the September 2013 Toronto Film Festival, and already it's sparking interest primarily because of Monteith's participation. Ironically, Monteith plays a druggy in this gritty cop drama.
The director, Josh C. Waller, was pretty quick out of the gate when Monteith died, reminding everyone in a Hollywood Reporter interview that "McCanick" was the young actor's final performance on film. Nobody ever accused film people of failing to seize upon every possible marketing angle.

Small part? I thought he was one of the three leads...

Cory's part is essential to the plot of the film--he's the character being pursued. But, his screen time (unless they've re-edited) isn't that much. The narrative (and camera) mostly follows Dave Morse's detective character, who is running all over Philadelphia looking for Cory.

Oh, okay. :)

Btw, have you seen it?

reply

Had he not died, I'd never have heard of him. And here we go again, blah blah's last film. Care factor zero.
