I was watching youtube and came across Film Theory doing a video on this movie. He didn't see Hans as the bad guy. I think he's right. He brought up some valid points. One major point was how he'd need Anna to rule. Just like the Queen of England's husband needs her.
Technically, just only his "twirling mustache" part with Anna make him Evil. Beyond a point, no solutions exist to stop Elsa's Ice powers. Kill her is the most rational solution, even Elsa looks passive and grants to be executed.
Incorrect, as he would only be a Royal of Arundel through marriage. If Anna and Elsa died, he would not take the throne, the next blood relative of Anna and Elsa would become the monarch. If Queen Elizabeth II dies, Prince Phillip does not take the crown, Elizabeth's next blood relative (her son, Charles) takes the crown.
No, actually I think you missed the point. Disney's monarchy rules are whatever they want/ need them to be. I shouldn't need to tell you what's wrong with their structure of a lion pride but that didn't stop them did it. It's a kid's movie follow the story not real life. In order for them to set up that Hans was into being king not her the crown has to be obtainable. You have to throw out monarchy rules otherwise there's no story there period.
I have one question though: As far as I remember Anna and Hans were not married by the time he leaves her for dead. How did Hans think he can take over the kingdom without an official bond to the family?
