Is this movie like an over-the-top...

... darkly humorous, perverted and Japanese take on something like Ilmar Raag's 200 Estonian drama "The Class" ("Klass"), which dealt with students exacting violent and murderous revenge after getting constantly bullied at school, only in this particular case, it is a TEACHER rather than a students (or group thereof) taking the law into his own hands to "solve" the problem?

I have not seen The Class but from your description I would say no, Lesson of the Evil is not an inversion of that movie. Lesson of The Evil is actually more about the exploration and development of the psychopathic mind of a professor who, for his own amusement and out of sadism, arrange for his students to go against another, among other mischevious deeds. From there, it all goes from bad to worse and worse with a finale that did shock a lot of people (rightfully so, in part, even though it is all well made and perversely fun).

Hi, thanks for the response. You could watch "The Class" (2007) (and sorry I wrote 200 and not 2007 it was a misprint) online as well, or even on YouTube albeit without the English subtitles, its actually in its circles a very popular film that deals with bullying at school that ends with a Columbine-like massacre.

I haven't seen THIS Japanese film yet but I wonder if maybe Miike was going to make like an over the top version of that kind of flick.
