Enjoyable first episode

I'd probably have watched this anyway. But, a reasonably good review on Radio 4 made me keener to see it than I had been... The first episode certainly wasn't 100% perfect... I know some evacuees were horribly abused. But, the Cribbens were a bit too much like pantomime villains for my liking... However, it certainly engaged and entertained me and I'm very keen to see what happens next... Douglas Henshall is never less than excellent, Suranne Jones and the gorgeous Tom Ellis are always very watchable and the children are generally very good too... As for Sarah Smart... I have to admit that I find her style of acting quite hammy. Though, she was rather better in this than she was in "Doctor Who" last year.
