I was under the impression that this was going to be on TV this week over the few days upto and including Halloween. However there is no sign or mention of this in any of the TV mags I have read or on scroll thru TV mode. Does anyone know what is happening here and if it isnt on this week - when??
Hi the tv series is British not American even though the bbc sold the series before it even aired on uk tv as its set in Manchester and the bbc made it not America it does air here a bit later than advertised in November. just because it aired in the usa first doesn't mean its an American production you should have a look at the end credits to see if an American company had anything to do with it
If you're on the west coast of America there isn't a three hour delay from the east coast broadcast. If it's listed as being on at 8:00, it really starts at 5:00. HOWEVER, most one hour prime time programs have an encore three hours later. (ie: 8:00 & midnight on east coast / 5:00 & 8:00 on west coast). But the marathon of "Halloween movies" didn't have the encore.
At least that's the way it works with my cable company, I'm not sure if it's the same everywhere. (Also, I noticed the Sunday newspaper schedule, which is usually correct had a misprint, but the onscreen TV schedule was correct.)
Ive been looking everywhere for this but still cant find it. I loved the book and was much looking forward to an on-screen adaptation. All of the websites ive seen seemed to indicate that it would be airing in October even in the UK so i figured that it would have been on over this last week but there's nothing!
I thought that it was possible that its release may have been delayed here (UK) due to April Jones' disappearance but i haven't spotted any reference to that.
Can i just clarify, has it aired in the US?
Thanks all

Thanks both for answering, good to know its somewhere out there and i'll get to see it at some point.
I strangely hadn't considered the Savile case as a reason but i can quite see what you mean. Its totally understandable that in light of such horrid reports coming to light that it would be in-compassionate to air a story with such recognizable links.
With luck, aside from all of the issues the book raises, we Brits will get to see it soon.
Thanks again.

Pretty sure it was delayed because of the Saville case the story in the book had many similarities to the story that broke a few years ago concerning historical child abuse at a care home based in Jersey (although I believe the book was published before the story broke). The Saville enquiry has linked him to said care home so I think the BBC had delayed the programme so it wasn't accused of being insensitive I think we can blame the tabloid hysteria for the delay.
As for the BBC American version it run at 2hrs 11min without the adverts so the BBC1 version is obviously less edited and as the book was a big one I think the BBC 1 version is worth the wait.
Ugh, conjures up pictures of the ghost of elderly Jimmy Saville roaming the halls of hospitals molesting children and nurses. I wrote into that show so many times when I was a kid! Horrible, horrible man who has ruined the life of a lot of people, and has destroyed the image of the seventies as a golden age in British TV in the minds of so many others.
Wasn't impressed by the first ep of Crickley Hall though folks.
It's too cerebral! We're trying to make a movie here, not a film!
