Sally Ann

Why is Paul's wife a cow?

He's athletic and beautiful and she's an overweight man looking slob. Bugged me a lot.

Your terminology seems a bit harsh, but people bring up this quite a lot. Some reasons he was 'out of her league':

1) She didn't look like the women he was inclined to kill so he could maintain a family life as cover and she would be safe

2) He's a good looking fella but his personality was lacking. A stunningly gorgeous woman may have realised he was boring her and gone to find someone else who was good looking but had a bit more character. Maybe Sally-Ann was shallow af

3) She had a job which involved care and compassion which helped his cover

4) The kind of person you can settle down with

5) She didn't really question anything he did

So, I just write something here and it will appear on everything I post?

What did Stella say about Sally Ann? "Naive and incurious, but not complicit." Something like that.

reply

"Stupid and incurious, but innocent". She was perfect for him

Probably didn't call her stupid but should have because she just accepted everything

reply

No you right she did call her stupid

Hard to believe, but on television, like in reality, some super attractive men who are fit do find fat cows attractive. How ludicrous that a television show might portray something as complicated as humans being attracted to something outside the realm of stereotypical beauty. Shock and awe.

reply

Sally Ann is a tall, big-boned woman. She is hardly a fat cow. In fact, I remember only one obese person on The Fall and that was a middle-aged male police officer who worked for Gibson early on. He's the one she cautioned against judging the victims.

I found it perplexing earlier in the show too...but of course it was intentional and made perfect sense...he found someone safe....and when he met her he was very newly Paul and looking for a new ..average, identity....she seemed a great wife, partner, mother...but a bit of a mismatch obviously physically...Paul is perfect in every way...seemingly. ..and that's the point....that's why the show is so compelling...and unsettling....you could almost like him until the end...and then feel like one of his victims...asking yourself why the heck you would be intrigued by such a vile person ...It's brilliant....I won't forget this show anytime soon

reply

Sure she's tall, but being "big boned" doesn't explain the rolls she has. She's not obese but she is definitely fat/overweight.

Someone so pent up with weight has some serious issues. Are you projecting perhaps? Did your parents embarrass you about being fat? Give you complexes?

If you think http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2391026/mediaviewer/rm3809402624 is fat, you have serious mental issues you need to deal with.

reply

Definitely shocking and hard to believe.

You know most women don't look like supermodels after pushing out 2 kids, right? This is one aspect of the show I appreciated, gave it a little more reality not going to typical hot TV wife route. Considering its far more common to see women with lesser attractive male counterparts it was nice to see them switch it up.

reply

You don't have to look like a supermodel and don't use kids as an excuse. I have one and I'm still 5'3 and 116 lbs. that's because I care about my health and way I look.

She clearly doesn't. He's way to attractive, and actually goes on runs. You'd think he would find someone comparable to that.... but the first response makes perfect sense. He needed someone to fool.

reply

He obviously picked her because she left him alone to be a serial killer.

reply

What an absolutely repulsive thread and person (the OP).
