why did Paul not kill Stella?

In his assault on Stella and Anderson in the interview room, it appeared like Paul had enough time to kill her, or hurt her even worse than he did. If I recall correctly, after he broke Anderson's arm, he went back to Stella and kicked her in the stomach a few times. I would imagine he could have killed her, or hurt her worse, during this time.

My only theory is that, at that time, Paul was pissed off but hadn't yet fully decided to give up on his whole amnesia excuse. Maybe he thought there was still a chance (albeit a small one) the amnesia excuse would work, so he didn't want to kill Stella and seal his fate in the judicial system.

Thoughts?

I watched that scene pretty sure he would have killed her had nobody come in to stop him. He was consumed by rage at the time, like when he killed Joe Brawley

So, I just write something here and it will appear on everything I post?

Totally, he had enough time to kill them both. Snapping a neck takes a second. But allowing him to do that means he would have won. These writers weren't going to let him win because a regular person and viewer doesn't want to see a serial killer win.
