This has got to be the dumbest concept for a show ever.

Next to reality trash I'm embarrassed to say that someone on another board (a sci-fi gaming board no less) introduced me to this show through a screen capture. I streamed an illegal Upload via Youtube, and just couldn't get what the hell I was watching.

High school or college coed girls driving around in tanks?

Look, I know Japan has some gender issues with keeping females in a secondary role, but if the producers and social scientists are hoping to change Japanese society through exposing young boys and young adolescent men to what girls can do by driving military hardware, then they got their heads up their backsides.

I can't fault the technical quality of the show. Good strong CGI mixed with cell animation, but young girls operating WW2 era armor? If I was a Japanese kid or teenage boy, then I'd be changing the channel and silently saying to myself "what a bunch of dumb-@$$ producers to think I'm going to change my thinking by watching this piece of trash"...

I do have to admit, it is kind of compelling to watch in a rubber-necker gawking at a car crash kind of way, but as even a farce or semi-serious alternative reality viewing?

I'd rather watch Dancing with the Stars or Dance Moms...it's that inane.

I dunno, Dominion Tank Police is pretty out there for concepts too. I mean just out on normal patrols they tear the roads up alone

Good point.

I think you may be reading too far into it haha. It's supposed to just be a fun show to watch with a wayyy out there concept that appeals to the "military nerds". There's another show very similar to this one called, "Upotte" where the students of an all girl academy train with guns all day and have matches with live ammo. However, they cant die when they get shot because, guess what? The girls are actually guns! They have names like Sig, AK, M (M16), L (L82A1) ect... and are taught by older, wiser guns from the WW2 era such as Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Garrand. The thing is though, not everyone in the world is a gun, because at one point a japanese teacher enters the school and is amazed to find out what they are; and we frequently hear the girls talking about how they hope someday a nice strong soldier will take them to war. It's a very strange concept, but as I mentioned, these types of shows pretty much cater to guys like me who love military themed animes such as Ghost in the Shell, Jormungand, Black Lagoon, ect... and love fan service. I'm enjoying the anime so far and hope they keep with this trend for military nutz :D

Oh, maybe I am. I guess I need to cut anime a bit more slack.

I just didn't get what the heck I was watching. Maybe I'll give it another shot (no pun intended).
