The Characters Weren't Engaging

First of all, I respect everyone's opinion, so please respect mine.
I watched this movie twice. Once because I thought it might be decent, and the other time because my brother wanted to watch it on Netflix.
Why didn't I like it?
Because in movies, I want to connect with characters, to feel their struggles when I watch. How can I connect with the characters if I don't understand what they're saying? The only way a screenwriter can get away with having characters you can't understand is if the characters rarely talk to begin with, such as in the movie Wall-E. And by the time the film ends, I don't really know much more about the characters than when I started watching.
So yeah, that is why I can't connect with the characters, and bye.
