Slow and steady wins the race.

I saw this at Toronto After Dark. My kind of movie! Great characters here, very believable and sympathetic considering how little we know about them. Strong sense of history without too much information. The kind of scares that I like are all about slow build, suspense, and atmosphere, and that's what this was. It's that lurking unknown that creeps in slowly, and watching the characters try to evaluate when the time has come to start getting seriously afraid. I was so tightly wound at points that any semi-sudden movements from audience members sitting near me made me jump, which was a little embarassing for me as someone who's seen a lot of horror and suspense. I'm not sure I would classify this is a horror film, but it scared me more than anything else I've seen recently.
