Why didn't Mary's mum just call the cops and tell them her she was prevented from seeing her own child? I find it very difficult to believe a mother would spend 17 years watching her child growing up from afar and not do everything in her power to get her back.

shareDon't feel bad, I was thinking the same thing until the end! The whole movie I was thinking "this is so close to being good." Then, the end happened. I've seen worse, but mostly better:)
