The companies trying to find out the ideas of the agencies early

Is obviously an idea of the producers to create drama, and it's utter stupidity. When agencies are working on their ideas to sell your product, you shouldn't bother them in the middle of their process to get a preview of their pitch, not only is it pointless, but it's disruptive. The producers are dicks for making them do that nonsense.

You're right, it's definitely producer-driven bullcrap. I liked when the guy on the Fuller Brush episode said he wasn't showing them an idea unless they cut him a check. Of course, they rejected his pitch because they felt he was difficult to work with. Anyway, it's obvious the Fuller Brush people would be clients from hell. Some accounts just aren't worth it.

I do agree that it's annoying and it's obviously problematic for the agencies who lose the wow factor of the presentation. BUT at the same time in a couple of cases it has helped people who were just completely off base in the direction of their campaigns.
