I think it really depends on how your culture defines manliness. I don't know enough about Korean cultural standards to make a judgement on whether or not the main character is manly or not.

It's not just Korea, Japan's male idols are very feminine in appearance too. I think they serve a young audience for the most part, girls in the teens and twenties who don't even KNOW what a "real man" is, so they prefer the boyish cult idols they see on their TV and movie screen. Fantasy reigns supreme, not reality.
