John Bruno?

Why John Bruno is on this show is a mystery to me and others familiar with him. I don't think he was ever an actual antique dealer, but was a promoter of antique shows. About 20 years ago when the FX TV Channel first started they ran a 1 hour daily show at noon called FX The Collectibles show. The show was based in New York City. This live program would center on collectibles and antiques and have guests bring in items for appraisal. They would have two appraisers look at your pieces and tell you their thoughts and estimates. I knew a couple of the appraisers and was actually a guest on the show. There were about 8 rotating appraisers and John Bruno was one of them. Most of the appraisers were experienced and quite knowledgeable, John Bruno was NOT one of them. He was wrong more often than any other appraiser they had. He would literally male up stories about the items with erroneous histories and inflated values. He couldn't tell the difference if something was 25 or 200 years old. He was painful to watch. He has appeared on other antique TV programs over the years and I believe he gets these gigs because of professional connections. Just look at the way he buys on this show will tell you he's clueless.
