shareActually if you catch the HIV virus (that turns into Aids) quick enough then you can take a pill regimen and kill the virus. It's not a 100 percent but it can happen.
Plus there are malaria pills that most people here take before, during, and after they go to Africa. It prevents you from getting the disease.

shareI went to Tanzania 10 years ago...which is East Africa and that was required for me to get before getting on the plane. It was pills I had to start like 2 weeks before I left, once a week, then continue after I come back. I went in June. I would have thought they would have at least been encourage to take the meds.
I couldn't continue to watch after that little boy died.
