Stop comparing this movie with 'Innocence of muslims'

Several times, many Hindu commenters had used this movie as an example to tell how Hindus welcomed this movie inspite of being against their faith while Muslims agitated against "innocence of muslims" which was released at around same time...

I finally got a chance to see it..I should say their comparison is totally out of place...
This movie doesnt criticize God but it criticizes that many twist the message of God to suit their needs

The movie which can be compared is 'Khuda Ke Liye'.. in OMG,the priests twist God's message to earn money for themselves and KKL,some mullahs twist the teaching of Quran to induct men into terrorism... Khuda Ke Liye was a major hit in Pakistan inspite of what people think we are and internationally too...

Let me ask Hindus a question...if someone makes a movie where Sita is showed as an adultress, krishna as a bloodthirsty psycopath...Can they assure that there will be no riots, strikes, theatre burnings about it???? They cannot say no as history has seen things happen to controversial movies

We muslims have the same respect for Prophet Mohammed PBUH as much u have on Ram,Krishna etc...and I respect ur feelings about them,u also respect our feelings

reply

If its just a movie....i will not be offended...i will not riot

I am an Indian...an agnostic...or maybe u could call me an agnositc Hindu (because Hinduism has a path for atheist/agnostics as well)
Yet...i find Hinduism and its philosophies to be most intelligent/likeable (probably because i have been exposed more to Hindu scriptures/philosophies)

Still I remain agnostic because.....none of the scriptures/teachings provide irrefutable evidence to the existance of a god...or for a purpose of clearance (not just Hinduism....this is true for other religions as well)

I am aware that some religions claim authenticity because "they claim they are scientific".....i have seen how the scholars "twist the words" to achieve that...leave it!!!!

The fact is that....GOD and religion are a leap of faith...u need faith...it is not provable

But reading the scriptures and from cultural inheritance, i have realised that religions does show u a path to lead the current life in a better way.....and amongst the religionsi have felt that Hindism does this best!!!!

My understanding of religion is that ....GOD does not need our protection...so we need not riot on god's behalf

STILL...I might riot on gods behalf for my selfish needs....livng in India....a secular country....I fear the Muslims.....I fear the day, they become the majority

Eg: In the state that I live in there is a district were Muslims are in majority.....here we can't eat food from any hotels during daytime this month....even the CANTEEN in our company has shutdown....its the holy month of Ramadan...and apparently the clergies of mosques have asked the hotels and canteens to shut down

Another eg:They have made head scarf mandatory in few schools (for girls)

All this in a secular country...so what might happen if they become a majority? I have fear

Hence if i see something that might weaken our religious strengths....that might make people leave our faiths.....i might riot....not because i am acting on my gods behalf....but to protect my communityin the pretext of fighting for my GOD

But a film talking about our GODS badly per se will not make me riot.....I will emphasize the "per se" here....because for eg: if the film is released and if I see Muslims/other religious groups talk badly about us in public.....then i might act

If u live in Pakisthan.....then i don't see any reason to worry at all...its a Islamic nation....nothing will weaken your community....the people has no other community to go to....i see no reason for u to riot!!!!

reply

I know you will not riot..Do u think I rioted when the movie came?? Did any of my friends rioted???

I know that ur tv channels would have shown pictures of muslims rioting over the movie...Yes there were riots

But it was just a group of around 100 people or so... Most of them are just unemployed who were given money from some political organization jsut to break few shops and public property

99.99% of muslims who saw or heard this movie didnt go on a rioting spree..We did feel anger but we know that rioting isnt the answer...Some of them did show their anger over social media, thats it

If you are a Hindu from ahmedabad,I shouldnt assume that u were involved in the 2002 riots which was far worse than any of these riots on this movie...

Similarly, not entire Pakistan erupted for this..it was just few politicans and religious leaders...

Just like we have few bad elements, you have too..

Didnt Shiv Sena and RSS burn cinema halls screening the movie "Fire" or even stopped the shooting of movie "Water" because it hurted Hindu sentiments????
Did Modi ban Amir Khan films just because he talked against him ???
or what about the movie "My name is khan"?? Why was RSS so intent about the movie when it only portrayed about muslims???

Media is a powerful tool...Just imagine if we were shown only about Shiv Sena,RSS,Ram sena riots on TV..We would imagine that all Hindus are like that...

similarly, since ur media shows only the negative elements of muslims, you have a blanket opinion over all of them..

reply

If you ask....whether the community as a whole react...the answer is NO

Some elements may react.....true

Reg: Our media showing negative elements of Muslims alone...thats not true..they may show neative elements of Pakisthan......not Muslims as a whole !!!

Will I (or the community as a whole) feel hurt....if we saw a wrong depiction of our GODs? That may happen....nut as a whole no riots will occur !!!

I also feel: Ideally i should train my mind to not to be hurt by such portrayal....b/c in reality uch portrayal means nothing......Exception would be a case where we feel the movie was produced by somebody to challenge a community as a whole...."see this is what i think about your gods....this is what i think about you"

If such a feeling is conveyed....then we may feel the hurt

reply

My friend, you are just reiterating what I've said...

99.99% of muslims who saw or heard about the movie felt anger but kept quiet as its waste of time fighting against those who have a closed mind about ur religion.. The best you can do is try to teach them that its wrong and if they dont listen, you can do nothing..

Also, the movie totally lampooned our prophet and made him look like a bloodthirsty idiot..

Around 0.01% of them got enraged and rioted... Same way Shiv Sena,Ram Sena etc people riot ...

Just the way you cannot control those rabid elements in ur group who call themselves of saving Hindu pride from rioting

We muslims also cannot control these people...

reply

The movie does not depict your prophet in any way...i don't know where you saw something like that.

Anyway i feel there is a basic difference between Muslims and Hindu's rioting:

1)Hindu's riot because their pride is hurt. Most of them who do riot has no knowledge about their religion expecially their scriptures

2)Muslims in general know their scriptures and still riot !

reply

Every extremists pretends that he knows the scripture better than anyone else and Hindus arent an exception to that...U claim that all those muslims who attacked have read the scripture...Then they should know about this incident involving Prophet (SAW)

She thought till late at midnight and finally decided how to take revenge from him. She could not sleep all night, because she was too eager to take revenge for the idols she worshiped. Even before the first ray of sunlight had entered her window, she was busy sweeping her house. She saved all the garbage in a basket, placed it on the roof of her house and proudly looked at it for a while, then with an impatient look on her face, she looked at the street that she lived on, and thought, "No one has ever seen him angry. Everybody will praise me when they will see him shouting at me and getting mad. They will laugh at him and make fun of him." She looked at the basket again and grinned.

Meanwhile, she heard footsteps, announcing the approach of the end of her waiting. "Finally my prey has arrived," she thought, as she saw a man dressed in clean, white clothes coming that way. She picked up the basket in her hands and threw all the garbage on him when he passed by. Much to the woman's disappointment, he did not say anything and continued on his way.

She did the same the following day thinking, "Maybe this time I will be able to annoy him." But he was too gentle to shout at a woman. She misinterpreted his attitude as fear and decided to repeat the same mischief everyday in order to keep him frightened, so that he might stop preaching the Oneness of God.

This gentleman whom the woman hated so much was Muhammad (pbuh), the last prophet of Allah Almighty. He did not want to disappoint the woman and so continued to walk down the street everyday, instead of picking an alternate route, and prayed for the woman to recognise the Truth.

One day, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) did not find the woman to be on the roof of her house with the basket. This worried him, because he thought something must have happened to her for not being over there. So he knocked at the door. "Who is it?" asked a feeble voice. "Muhammad bin Abdullah," was the reply, "can I come in?" The woman feared, "I am sick, and too weak to fight or talk back, therefore Muhammad has come to take revenge for what I have been doing to him." But the permission to enter her house was in such a gentle voice that she allowed him in.

Muhammad (pbuh) entered the house and told the woman that not finding her on the roof had worried him and he thus wanted to inquire about her health. On finding out how ill she was, he gently asked if she needed any help. Hypnotised by the affectionate tone in the Holy Prophet's (pbuh) blessed voice, she forgot all fear and asked for some water. He kindly gave her some in a utensil and prayed for her health, while she quenched her thirst. This made her feel very guilty for being so cruel to him in the past and she apologised for her mean behaviour. He forgave her and came to her house everyday to clean it, to feed her and to pray for her, till she was on her feet again. The kind attitude of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) inspired her into the recognition of the Truth, and his prayers were answered in the form of yet another addition into the growing number of Muslims.

Even when Prophet himself took criticism and insults and never retaliated..How could those who follow his teachings take matter into their own hands???

Perhaps they also might have read the part of Quran where it is said that "Islam is the only true religion in th eyes of god"......which instilled them with a pride .....and perhaps your teachers stressed too much on "how true your religion is" "how wrong others are " etc etc and did not bother to stress too much on the "treating others with compassion " part and on other similar lines like "if u kill one human being its like you have killed the whole of humanity" part.......except maybe to just prove that "Islam is anti-terrorism" but failed to imbibe this quality on the children

And to top that

Shirk is the only "unpardonnable" sin....so maybe they all feel that as long as u believe only in Allah and ask for his forgiveness for other sins (like not treating others with compassion)....they will be forgiven....THIS THEY MAY BE THINKING subconssciously.....not necessarily consciously

And in any case.....one thing i don't understand......suppose a movie does picture your prophet in a bad light......how does that affect you, you religion or your prophet........so i feel unless u think it was a very intentional attack on your religion or something....there is no reason for any of u guys to riot..!

Every extremists pretends that he knows the scripture better than anyone else and Hindus arent an exception to that

Plz be truthful.....Muslims and Chrisitians have established "learning of ones own scripture" as essential for their children......you have organized classes for that......Hindu's do not have any such avenues.......which is why i said "In general Muslims have all read their scriptures (whether they have understood properly is another qn)......but in general most Hindu's are scripture illiterate"....In fact Hindu's are so ignorant that.....they are very well aware of their ignorance, so much so that noone will even boast that they know the scriptures.....I am sure.....Atleast I have not seen anybody doing that unless he/she is ACTUALLY INDEED a "scripture literate".
