Shouldn't the kids not remember (Spoiler)

If you follow the first movie's logic, shouldn't the kids in this movie not remember what happened? The kids in this movie are the same as the kids in the original movie. Start playing a game that was already started by a player 20 years earlier. They finish the game, and time resets too when the first player started the game. The kids in the original are shown meeting the first player and they weren't even born then so they have no recollection of ever playing the game, even tho we mostly see the original movie thru these kid's eyes. Plus because the time restarted it's supposed to be like the game never happened at all, that's the timeline Alan went back to. Obviously, for this movie, it wouldn't work if the kids didn't remember but just saying it seems like they shouldn't.
